Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog — iTunes review Every time I watch this show I find more to like about it, so I wrote up a review for iTunes. There were already 544 reviews there, so it is unlikely that mine will make it to the front page. For your enjoyment or boredom, I enclose it below.

A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand I'm not usually one to get on a political high horse, or even a soapbox, but my friend is, and I just have to link to this recent entry for its incisive description of our current situation and apparent downward path. Current Mood: worried |

a classic, rediscovered The video, Powers of Ten, has been a classic since it was created. Here it is, both for those of you who haven't seen it and for the reminiscence of us old folks.

Science does not require Faith My reply to enegim (which, for those of you who cannot read that entry, was a comment on an op-ed piece by Paul Davies about religion and science titled Taking Science on Faith) came out better than I expected, so I thought I'd share it here, somewhat improved (or at least lengthened) with another day of thought and rereading behind it. Feel free to reply with comments on its (lack of) clarity and correctness.

TED Talks The invitation-only TED conference (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) has been releasing their archive of video recordings of talks. I've been browsing on that site as well as picking out several on the iTunes RSS feed for iPod-viewing. If I were to list every one that I've enjoyed, you'd close the window before finishing reading this note. I'll just point to one and let you go from there.
I grew up in a Protestant household, wandered off (spiritually, not physically) to be a Vanilla Christian for a while, then converted to Catholicism (because if I am going to choose one, it's the one that doesn't "leave anything out", which is essentially what the other flavors do). Now I watch this video and discover that philosophically, I'm also a Buddhist.

Rise of the Troopers Maybe it's just because I recently (re)watched some of the referenced movies or because the nasal congestion from my cold has put pressure on my brain, but I found this fanfilm amusing.

RCSW again OK, here's a sample scene from the longer episode of Robot Chicken / Star Wars.
I would note that while RC has a few voice actors who simulate various celebrities, for this particular scene Luke Skywalker is actually played by Mark Hamill.
